I started this site because we love cooking looking through recipes and trying out new ones and new cuisines and we also love to cook food that is quick, healthy and delicious.

Some food that is good for you tastes like cotton wool and we decided that after reading some food labels and looking at what is in some of the foods on offer that if we were going to eat well, enjoy it and remain healthy then we needed to cook fresh foods and use fresh herbs.  My mother who lived to be 96 always used to say she preferred to pay the grocer than the doctor and we used to laugh at her but its pretty true.

Take a look at some of the foods you use every day and really look at the labels and what is in them – did you know for example that they use gas to make lettuce keep that you buy in those little bags ?    Did you know that shop bought yogurt contains a stack more sugar than home made ?  Take a look at what is in those yummy cookies you pop in your trolley and you might just decide to make your own.

Years  ago I read a small book on the link between food and health published in 1932 and this reinforced what my mother used to say that what we eat today, walks and talks tomorrow so make sure that your fuel for the next day  is stacked with energy giving foods.    This book was pretty unusual as it was not the norm to link food and health, people just ate what was put in front of them and didn’t analyse or stress too much what was in it.    i have even had a doctor tell me that “it doesn’t really matter what we eat” when we all know that some foods make us feel great and some meals make us feel stodgy, sluggish and tired all the time so why not make a switch now to make your meals as fresh and free from preservatives and additives as you can.  Shop locally whenever you can and shop for real food – not manufactured food they are trying to sell us that we need to diet off again.

Why eat boring, tasteless and stodgy food when you could consume a rainbow of fresh, life giving, food that brings vitality, energy and delight at every meal.  Treating yourself and staying healthy is easy when you eat fresh, when you enjoy every morsel and its so enjoyable planning your next meal its almost addictive.
