Home Made Granola

Quick and easy breakfast cereal that tastes delicious and can also be a base for a home made Granola bread.

Plug yourself into high energy now.

We make this quite often and it makes 2 large preserving jars (or 6 1/2 cups) and is great with yogurt, cream if you wish or milk and we also like it with fruit for dessert.  Click the Read Recipe

Home Made Granola Recipe
2 & 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup coarsely chopped almonds
1/2 cup sesame seed
1/2 cup shelled sunflower seeds
1/2 cup wheatgerm
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup cooking oil
1/2 cup dried apricots chopped
1/2 cup raisins

Method
In a large bowl combine rolled oats, coconut, almonds, sesame seeds & wheatgerm.
Combine honey & oil
Stir into oat mixture
Spread out only a pan
Bake in a 300 degree oven until a light golden brown – should take around 45 – 50 mins. Stir every 15 mins or so so it brown evenly and prevent lumps
Remove from oven and stir in dried apricots and raisins.
Put in another pan to cool ( to cool faster)
Store in airtight container.

To store the Granola more than 2 weeks, seal it in plastic bags and freeze.

Serve with Yogurt, coconut cream or almond or rice milk for a healthy start to your day.
